Baptism
If you're interested in getting your child baptised, sometimes called Christening, or indeed in getting baptised yourself the first step is to get in contact with us.
You will need to meet with the Vicar in order to discuss the baptism and once that has been done we can normally organise a date for the baptism itself. We normally ask people to meet with us after coming to a Sunday service if they are not already part of the church congregation.
Baptism is a welcome into the Christian faith, into the family of the church so it's worth thinking carefully about why you want your child baptised or to be baptised yourself. Baptisms normally take place within a Sunday morning service so that the whole church can welcome you as part of the church family.
In Baptism there are promises made about living in the Christian faith or raising your child in the Christian faith which we discuss as part of our meeting. To baptise a child under 18 we normally need to either meet everyone with parental responsibility or make contact with those who have parental responsibility to ensure they are happy for the child to be baptised.
Each child being baptised normally needs three Godparents, two of the same sex as the child and one of the opposite sex all of whom must be baptised themselves. It is preferable if they are confirmed as well.
If you'd like to enquire further either complete either the child or adult baptism form below or get in touch using the details on our Contact Us page if you have further questions.
